Career Fair Prep for Grad Students

Heading to a career fair and feeling a little overwhelmed? Career fairs are great ways to make connections for your job search, but they’re also hectic and complex events. In this workshop, we’ll break down what you need to do to get ready. You’ll learn how to introduce yourself effectively, talk to employers about your skills and experiences, and develop a concrete strategy for career fair success. This workshop is presented by Graduate College Career and Professional Development.  

Preparing for Faculty Interviews

When: Thursday, January 26, 3:30 - 5 p.m.

Where: Illini Union, room 407

What is an academic job interview actually like? What’s the difference between a phone interview and a campus interview? What sorts of questions will I be asked? What kind of things do you include in a job talk? In this interactive workshop, you’ll get answers to these questions as you learn the basics of the academic interview process. You’ll also have a chance to practice answering academic job interview questions and get feedback to help you improve. This workshop is presented by Graduate College Career and Professional Development.
