REU for non UIUC Students

STIPEND
A total of $3000 will be paid three times over the 10-week program. Students will be paid at the beginning, middle and end of the program.

HOUSING
Students will stay at Europa House, which is within walking distance of Loomis Laboratory of Physics. Each student will share a furnished apartment with one other student.

TRAVEL
Up to $300 in travel expenses will be reimbursed. In order to be reimbursed you must submit receipts, no exceptions please.

ELIGIBLITY
You must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident of the United States or its possessions.
Rising Juniors or Seniors enrolled full-time in an accredited undergraduate degree program are encouraged to apply.

Students graduating at the end of spring 2009 are not eligible.

Minority and female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

APPLYING
There are two ways to apply.

1. Apply online
Complete the online application.
Although you apply online, you must mail an official copy of your transcript. If letters of recommendation are submitted electronically, there is no need to mail hard copies. Just list the names and e-mail addresses of the authors of your letters of recommendation. I will send them an e-mail with a link so they can submit a letter on your behalf through our secure server.

2. Snail-Mail
If you choose to mail your application materials; please include all of the following information in one large mailing envelope:
    1. Official Transcript
    2. Three letters of reference
    3. Statement of Purpose (please write your name on the SOP)
    4. In addition, you must also complete the online application.

Application deadline, March 9, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. CST.
Rejection letters will be mailed in the middle of April when all of the research position are filled.

Please Note:

Juniors or Seniors by the end of spring 2009 in an accredited undergraduate degree program. (Students graduating at the end of spring 2009 are not eligible.)
