Abstract:
For the 7th year, the U of I is bringing "Science at the Market" on most Saturday mornings to the Farmers Market at Lincoln Square mall in Urbana. U of I and other experts will be on hand with demonstrations illustrating the science they represent, and to answer questions from the public about the researchers' discipline. For example, you may see what birds and other animals live in C-U parks thanks to the Urbana Anita Purves Park District;  floating superconductors shown by Physics; solar flares via solar telescopes with the Staerkel Planetarium; pants that don't stain thanks to nanotechnology; 3-D printing by the IGL;  lizard and other animals shown by the GEEB, and learn a lot about bees, bumblebees and pollination in June, on the Pollinators Saturdays.
