Biography

Merissa Milton is a senior academic advisor for the department of Physics. She has been on campus since April 2000.  Merissa received her Master of Education in Educational Policy Studies with a concentration in Diversity and Equity in 2011 and started working with physics undergraduates as an academic advisor in January 2012.  She was promoted to Senior Academic Advisor in February 2019.  Merissa leads physics majors through a self-evaluative process that takes into consideration their intellectual goals and career aspirations. In addition to providing timely information about college policies and procedures pertaining to registration, course enrollment, academic status, and general degree requirements, Merissa is well connected within the University's network of enrichment opportunities for high-achieving students. She also connects at-risk students with academic-support and other resources and advocates for them, supporting and guiding the necessary return to good academic standing.
