Why does the space shuttle returning to Earth cause two separate sonic booms?
The Department of Physics welcomes Erin Kirby as assistant director of advancement. Erin joined us in May of 2009 and is the first staff member solely dedicated to alumni relations and development within the Department. As assistant director, Erin will be responsible for visiting alumni throughout the country, managing the annual fund as well as the development of major gifts to benefit the Department. She will also organize several receptions across the country to reconnect alumni with one another and with faculty.
When asked about the position Erin responded, “I am honored to be a part of the Department of Physics at Illinois. The faculty and students have many success stories to tell and they deserve more support for highly ranked programs and students.”
Erin graduated from Miami University with a bachelor's degree in business journalism. Erin also holds a master's degree in higher education from the University of Illinois. Her development experience includes working with the Office of Advancement within the College of Education at University of Illinois, as a graduate assistant for two years. Erin also worked at the University of Illinois Foundation as a Reuss Fellow in the summer of 2008.
