Undergrad Transfers within U of I

Changing colleges

Freshmen (including students entering with sophomore standing) must remain in the college to which they were admitted for one year. Students who have transferred from another institution must remain in the college to which they were admitted for one semester.

EXCEPTION: If you have already been successfully admitted to your new program, you do not need to see an advisor in physics. To prevent our placing a hold on your registration, send an email to Kate Shunk (shunk@illinois.edu) with your UIN and the name of your new major.

1. Print out a transfer advising agreement and obtain the signature of a dean at the college to which you hope to transfer.

2. Have the dean record the required GPA on the advising agreement.

3. Find out under what circumstances you may transfer (required courses, number of total hours accumulated, etc.).

4. Ask when you can transfer (i.e. before fall classes begin).

5. Make an appointment with an adviser in the department into which you hope to transfer to discuss your schedule.
