We would like to invite you to share information about the campuswide doctoral hooding ceremony on Saturday, December 16, 2017 with August and December doctoral recipients. The event will take place from 10:30 a.m. – noon in Foellinger Great Hall in the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.

The majority of the ceremony will be dedicated to the hooding of the doctoral degree recipients. Earning a doctoral degree represents the culmination of years of commitment, dedication, and work. At the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony, each student will be announced individually and will join their mentor on stage to receive their doctoral hood. This ceremony offers doctoral degree recipients, along with faculty mentors, an opportunity to celebrate this important academic achievement.

The ceremony will include comments from Chancellor Robert J. Jones, Provost John P. Wilkin, and Wojtek Chodzko-Zajko, Dean of the Graduate College, as well as Dr. Jennifer C. Greene, recipient of the 2016 Campus Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Mentoring. Deans from each college and school will be present to congratulate students on their achievements.

If you have doctoral students who will be graduating in December or graduated in August 2017, please let them know about the opportunity to participate in this ceremony, which will be live-streamed for family and friends who are unable to attend. Details, including the link to register, can be found at http://www.grad.illinois.edu/hooding/december. Students are asked to register by November 15 if they will be designating a hooder who will need regalia ordered.
