Illinois Physics and Biophysics grad students Tanya Perlova, Roshni Bano, Brianne Gutmann, Courtney Krafczyk, and Gloria Lee, recently published a letter in Nature's Correspondence section on "Mentoring: a way to help mental health."  In their letter, these graduate students argue that mental health problems facing graduate students and postdocs in STEM fields should be addressed not only by providing counseling and work-life balance opportunities, but also by increasing the value that the academic community places on mentoring of junior researchers by faculty.
