The Spring 2018 Physics Careers Seminar series ends on Monday, May 14, 2018, when alumnus Dr. Cory Stephenson hosts a special roundtable discussion on  "Data science and machine learning in industry," at 11:00 a.m. in 204 Loomis.

Speaker: Dr. Cory Stephenson

Abstract: This will be an informal conversation about making the transition from physics to industry data science. We'll talk about a variety of things, including what types of positions there are, what to expect in interviews, and what hiring managers look for. Feel free to bring any questions you may have.

Bio: Cory Stephenson recently graduated from the UIUC physics department and now works as a data scientist at Lab 41 on applications of emerging machine learning methods to problems of interest to the US government.
