About Augsburg University: The Physics Department at Augsburg University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Physics, beginning August 26, 2019. Review of applications will begin November 9, 2018 and continue until the position is filled. In the Spring of 2018 the Augsburg's Physics Department moved into the brand new Hagfors Center for Science, Business and Religion, featuring state-of-the-art classrooms, teaching labs and dedicated faculty-student research space. Candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity as well as success in teaching and serving students from diverse communities are especially encouraged to apply.

Job Description: The Physics Department seeks individuals with a passion for engaging students of all backgrounds in the exploration of the physical world. We seek candidates with interests or specialties in applied physics, engineering and/or computational methods. Expertise in these areas will leverage the interdisciplinary strengths of our institution and serve the majority of our physics graduates that seek careers in industry and/or as engineers. The successful candidate will have opportunities to teach physics and related subjects across a traditional undergraduate curriculum and develop courses meeting Augsburg's commitment to the Liberal Arts and scientific literacy. Candidates should demonstrate effectiveness in teaching and professional activities / scholarship which engages undergraduates and stimulates their vocational potential. Part of the workload may include time to develop and set up a lab to engage students in research and seek external funding. A PhD in physics or closely related field is required (ABD considered).

Post-doctoral or industrial experience, and previous college-level teaching experience is preferred.
