Description: Inprentus, Inc. is seeking full-time, summer interns in the areas of precision instrument design, nanofabrication, manufacturing, control systems, and real-time/embedded systems development. Ideal candidates will be enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Material Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. Top candidates should have an interest in nanoscale material dynamics, nanoimprint lithography, precision motion control systems, ultra-stable measurements, and/or advanced manufacturing. Individuals will be joining a friendly and highly motivated technical team advancing the state-of-the-art in diffraction grating manufacturing processes for x-ray applications. Some experience with scanning probe microscopy, or optics instrumentation is desirable, but is not required.

Inprentus is a small, venture-backed technology company that started at the University of Illinois Research Park and has become a world leader in the manufacture of precision optics for synchrotron and free electron laser applications. Requirements: * Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Material Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related discipline * Interest in nanoscale material dynamics, nanoimprint lithography, precision motion control systems, ultra-stable measurements, advanced manufacturing, scanning probe microscopy, and/or optics instrumentation * Experience working in a laboratory R&D environment * Ability to solve problems and work independently * Ability to communicate and collaborate well with team members and industrial partners
