The Spring 2019 Physics Careers seminar series continues on Friday, April 19, 2019 with alumnus Dr. Brian Wolin:

Time: 11 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019 (refreshments served at 10:30 a.m.)

Location: 204 Loomis Laboratory (Interaction Room)

Title: Eyeballs, North Dakota, and other adventures of a physicist turned engineer

Speaker: Dr. Brian Wolin, Northrop Grumman Corp.

Abstract: In this talk I will discuss my experiences as a physicist finding a job and working in the private sector. I will give some advice based on my own job search, and talk about some of the unique aspects of applying to engineering jobs as a physics graduate student. I will also talk about Northrop Grumman’s Future Technical Leaders program and working in the defense industry.

Bio: Brian is a Principal Systems Engineer and physicist working at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems. He joined Northrop Grumman in 2017 as a member of the Future Technical Leaders program, for which he is completing several one-year rotations to expand his technical expertise and develop his leadership skills. Brian earned his Ph.D. in physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2017, studying low-temperature magnetic materials.

Brian may have time to meet with interested students while he's here. If you're interested in meeting with Brian on Friday, April 19, contact Lance Cooper and I'll try to find a time to meet.
