Abstract: From smartphones and tablets to wearables and automobiles, it’s hard to go more than a few hours without using a semiconductor-enabled device. The semiconductor industry touches nearly every person on the planet and nearly every advanced chip is built with technology from Lam Research. Lam’s innovative wafer fabrication equipment and services allow chipmakers to build smaller, faster, and better performing electronic devices. Dr. Nerissa Draeger will introduce Lam’s technology and talk about solutions to some of the challenges faced by the semiconductor industry; as well as share her career experience.

Bio:

Dr. Nerissa Draeger is Director of University Engagements at Lam Research. She oversees academic research partnerships in pursuit of disruptive technologies to enable improvements in performance and productivity and accelerate opportunity. Nerissa has led various programs since joining the company in 2000; including feasibility of emerging materials and processes, new product development, and strategic business and intellectual property development. Her background is in thin film deposition and she earned her Ph.D. and B.S.E. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urba­na-Champaign and the University of Michigan, respectively. She has authored over 30 patents and numerous technical publications.
