Stephen Wolfram, creator of Wolfram|Alpha and Mathematica, is hosting a discussion, book signing and networking event to celebrate the launch of his new book, Adventures of a Computational Explorer.

This latest book focuses on what has become the driving force behind all of Wolfram’s work: computational thinking. It covers hot topics such as the ethics of AI and groundbreaking research like the ongoing process of creating a language that can be understood outside the bounds of our universe. Given Wolfram’s background as a renowned physicist, software developer and local CEO, we think your students will be interested in this event. You may even consider offering them an end-of-semester incentive or a few extra-credit points for attending the talk. If your syllabus happens to contain an outside media requirement, this could also be a great way for students to fulfill it. Wolfram’s ideas are highly relevant to the latest research in computation and physics, and they are sure to stimulate meaningful discussions that can be carried over into the classroom.

The event will be at the Champaign Barnes & Noble, located at Marketview Shopping Center, 65 E Marketview Drive. It will take place December 11 at 6pm and last no more than an hour and a half. The evening will consist of remarks from the author with time for Q&A, followed by time for book signing and networking.
