Inprentus, Inc., is seeking a predoctoral intern in the area of high-precision optics. Candidates should have made progress toward a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, and have an interest in precision instrumentation and optics R&D. The individual will improve techniques for fabricating high-efficiency diffraction gratings for x-ray and UV light, perform precision metrology on these gratings, and work as part of a diverse and highly motivated technical team.

Inprentus is a late stage technology company now located at a dedicated facility at 51 E. Kenyon Rd. in Champaign, IL. Their products are in use at NASA, in the semiconductor industry, and at many synchrotron and free-electron laser facilities around the world.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Experience and interest in optics apparatus and testing

• Experience working in a laboratory R&D environment

• Ability to solve problems and work independently

• Ability to communicate well with team members and partners at other institutions
