Itinerary for Sunday, May 12, 2019
Convocation CeremonyThe Physics and Astronomy Convocation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2019. Doors to the Colwell Playhouse will open at 1:00 p.m., and can be accessed from the main lobby of Krannert (5th Level). All guests should enter from the main lobby, and must have their tickets in order to gain entry. Door information on the tickets can be disregarded.
Students should arrive between 1:15 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. Further instructions will follow closer to convocation.
ReceptionCampus and the local community can be very, very busy on this day. Restaurants are usually very busy and waits can be long. As part of the Department event, we will offer a congratulatory reception of light appetizers in the KCPA’s Studio Theatre following the convocation ceremony. All graduates and their families are invited to attend.
Eligibility to participate
You are eligible to participate if you received your Bachelor’s degree in physics and/or astronomy in August 2018 or December 2018, or will complete requirements this May.
Registering for Convocation
You must register in advance to participate in the Department of Physics/Department of Astronomy Convocation Ceremony. This year's registration process is completely online.
Students will be allowed a maximum of four (4) tickets to provide to their guests. No guests will be permitted to attend without a ticket. Tickets may be picked up in the main departmental office, room 211 Loomis. The pickup dates will begin on Thursday, April 11. All tickets must be picked up no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, May 10. Students may call Suzanne Hallihan at 217.333.3761 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if they wish to be put on a waiting list to receive additional tickets. No additional tickets are guaranteed at this time.
Registration must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2019.

Regalia (Cap and Gown) information
Regalia is not worn or required the Physics and Astronomy Convocation ceremony. Regalia is required for participation in Commencement at Memorial Stadium.
The Krannert parking garage will be open and available for guests to utilize. If the garage is full, there is parking available at the meters all along the streets bordering the Krannert Center. Accessible entrances are located in the garage at any of the elevator entrances in all 4 areas (Blue, Green, Orange, Yellow). Krannert front-of-house staff will be on hand for anyone that needs assistance.
Guests are also welcome to park at Loomis Laboratory and walk to KCPA. Parking Lot B21 on the east side of Loomis Laboratory and MRL building is most conveniently located for our convocation ceremony. Parking is also allowed at any street meter except for those which are "bagged," marked with a gold "reserved 24-hours/day" sign, or a "handicapped" reserved sign. The city of Urbana will give out parking tickets on commencement weekend for expired meters; the city of Champaign will not.
