In this talk I will give a general overview of active materials in biology. We will first look at how the influenza spike motor works by digesting glycan and gliding across mucus and show that the motion is not Brownian. Then we will look at phonon modes in active polar flocks. These modes may help explain wound healing in epithelial cells and help shape limbs in embryos.
