The Spring 2015 Physics Careers seminar series continues on Thursday, April 2, 2015 with Dr. Alexis Thompson, Graduate College Career Development Office

Title:  Career Development Resources for Illinois Graduate Students

Speaker: Dr. Alexis Thompson, Graduate College Career Development Office

Abstract:   Navigating career options and the job search in industry, business and non-profits can be confusing. The Graduate College Career Development Office is here to help Illinois graduate students and postdocs help you explore and pursue your career goals. In this talk I will highlight key resources and provide advice for the job search.

Bio: Alexis Thompson completed bachelor of science degrees in Chemistry and Physics from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Following graduation, she joined the Graduate College at the University of Illinois and in various roles before becoming the Assistant Dean for Graduate Student Development and Postdoctoral Affairs in 2013. She is the president-elect of the Graduate Career Consortium, a national organization providing leadership in the provision of career development for graduate students. She is committed to providing resources and support to help graduate students and postdocs excel in their current roles and throughout their careers.
