Nominations are now being accepted by the College of Engineering for the Yee Memorial Fellowship.  Fellowships worth $5000 each will be awarded ($2500 in the Fall, $2500 in the Spring). Applicants must not be graduating before May 2018 and must remain on campus through this date.

Application Deadlines: February 20, 2017 (materials to Assoc Head's office); February 24, 2017 (nomination to Engineering College)

Eligibility: Awards will be made to entering or continuing Chinese students. Applicants must not be graduating before May 2018 and must remain on campus through this date. Special consideration will be given to students from inner province universities (not coastal) in China.  Selections will be based upon: (1) Strong academic performance based on the student's transcripts, letters of recommendation, and resume; (2) Demonstrated interest in engineering education (teaching experiences), service to the community promoting technical awareness, research, or other outreach activities; (3) Research accomplishments, publications, presentations, letters of recommendation, and student's essay; and (4) Assessment of the student's commitment to and potential for contributing to engineering education based on the student's essay, letters of recommendation, and resume.

Application Package: A complete application package must include:
(i) Application cover sheet;
(ii) Student vita/resume specifying previous education, work experience, research experience, publications, presentations and relevant service
(iii) unofficial transcripts with current GPA and a copy of GRE scores from their admission file.
(iv) One-page essay by the student nominee. The essay should describe the student's career goals and how these goals will impact engineering education, research, and service to the field of engineering. In addition, how the student's PhD program will help accomplish those goals;
(v) Two letters of recommendation, which should address the student's demonstrated contributions and/or potential for making significant contributions to engineering education, research and service. In particular, the letters should address how the Yee Fellowship will help the student meet his/her career goals.

Each department may nominate up to two students, but there is a maximum of one award per department per year.

If you are interested in applying for this fellowship, please contact Assoc Head for Grad Programs Lance Cooper (slcooper@illinois.edu). Because your thesis advisor will need to support this nomination with a letter, if you're interested in applying, you should consult with your advisor before pursuing a nomination for this fellowship. Nominations must be submitted by the department, so all materials for the nomination must be sent to the Physics Grad Programs Office by February 20, 2017.
