Please take note of the following Summer 2017 registration requirements for graduate students:

Grad students taking their prelim or thesis defense in Summer 2017:  If you plan to take your preliminary or thesis examinations anytime during the summer term, i.e., from May 15 - August 28, you must be registered for the Summer 2017 term.

Fellows: Students with waiver-generating fellowships are required to register for at least 4 hours in an 8-week course (thesis research credit is acceptable).

Newly Admitted Students: Students admitted for summer term who receive assistantships must register for the summer term.

Summer RA or TA Assistants: If you receive a summer assistantship (the period between May 15 and August 28), and you were registered for the immediately preceding spring semester or you are registered for the following fall semester, campus policy does not require you to register for the summer term. Students who do not register, however, will not receive health insurance or medical coverage unless they register for health coverage separately: http://www.grad.illinois.edu/fellowship/healthins
