Many of those who advise physics students have heard statistics that the majority of physics graduates will go on to work in private sector environments. However, physics educators may not have the experience to feel comfortable mentoring students who are interested in pursuing this career path.

APS is launching a new webinar series, “Success in Industry Careers,” which will focus on specific skills and knowledge that physics students need to thrive in private sector environments.

In this talk, Matthew Thompson, chair-elect of the APS Forum on Industrial and Applied Physics, will break down the importance of teamwork, how the size of an organization alters what teamwork looks like, and how it gets judged when performance review time comes. Matt will also provide some concrete suggestions on building up your teamwork skill set before your next job search.
