Opening for a Data Scientist with the Dept. of Defense in Florida

The 45th Test Squadron in Florida has an immediate opening for a COMPUTER SCIENTIST/DATA SCIENTIST Subject Matter Expert

Required Experience

• Advanced degree in computer science, math, statistics, data engineering, Ops Research or a related discipline
• Data Science expertise with programming skills in applicable programming languages like R, Python, SQL, Javascript
• Organize and interpret data to inform DOD decision makers, turns data into actionable knowledge; drive successful operations and shape organization technology and resource investments.
• Performs system analysis and design, and in data mining/data warehousing/data visualization techniques.
• Familiarity with ML libraries, and the algorithmic methods available, and when/how to apply the appropriate method given the objective
• Extensive analytics or big data analysis experience, experience with exploratory data analysis on large data sets.
• Advanced math skills (linear algebra, statistics –Bayesian and Frequentist methods, set theory, dynamic programming, discrete math, systems theory, Multivariate Methods, Modeling in Regression)
• Models complex institutional problems, developing insights and identifying opportunities using statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communications; clearly communicate both technical and leadership conclusions to a diverse audience
• Proven ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, languages, platforms, systems • Strong analytic, inferencing, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills
• Self-starter with ability to work both independently and with a team
• DoD Secret Clearance is required
• Ability to work remotely (not in the local Eglin AFB, FL area) is acceptable provided the capability for distributed remote classified connections is available and additionally TDYs to Eglin AFB, FL will be required for on-site data analysis estimated 1 week per month

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in computer science, math, statistics, data engineering, Ops Research or a related discipline
• Familiarity with researching or testing AI-based algorithms and systems for reliability, trustworthiness, and accuracy
• Seasoned analytics professional with experience in cloud-based environments like AWS or Azure, to include cloud-native or cloud API-based interfaces.
• Experience in U.S. Air Force or other DoD T&E organizations is a plus.
• Experience with DoD acquisitions lifecycle.
• DoD Top Secret Clearance Preferred, with eligibility for SCI access
