Your Support Matters

Your gifts to the Department of Physics enable us to recognize and reward outstanding students, support undergraduate research, allow students to travel to conferences to present their work, sustain our long-standing community outreach programs and start new ones, provide in-service training for Illinois physics teachers, recruit the next generation of Illinois physicists, and bring world experts to Urbana for special colloquia and seminars—all key to maintaining the vibrant traditions of excellence of Illinois Physics.

Invest in the next generation of talented young students and physics researchers
  • Provides support for the things that set Illinois Physics apart from other physics departments: our highly successful outreach programs—Physics Van, Saturday Physics for Everyone, Science at the Market, Young Scholars Program—our student organizations that create networking, professional development, leadership, and mentoring opportunities for our students; research stipends that give our undergraduate students the opportunity to get their first hands-on experience in working side by side with our faculty to tackle real-world problems in living systems and disease, novel materials, quantum information, machine learning and artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, remote sensing, and ecology, as well as a broad range of traditional physics problems from the nanoscale to the cosmos.
