Postdoctoral Position in Experimental Magnetism and Light
9/6/2012
Using seed funds made available by the University of Florida Division of Sponsored Research, an interdisciplinary research group (IRG) focusing on "Magnetism and Light" has formed, and the team is listed at the end of this message. The new postdoctoral research position, which can start immediately, will perform and analyze magneto-optical measurements using a commercial SQUID magnetometer and other low-temperature, high-magnetic field techniques. The abilities to work in a team atmosphere and to communicate comfortably with chemists, materials scientists, and physicists are crucial. The new researcher will be supervised by Mark Meisel, but the person will interact directly with other members of the team. The position is presently open and the starting date should be as soon as possible but definitely before November 01, 2012. The initial appointment will be for one year with an annual salary of $43,000 and standard UF postdoctoral researcher fringe benefits. An extension of up to an additional six months is possible if there is mutual agreement. The continuation of the position beyond this time frame will depend upon the availability of extramural funding and progress on the projects. Interested candidates should send a CV, a brief statement about potential starting dates and career goals, and the names and contact information of three references to Mark Meisel (meisel@phys.ufl.edu).
