Four Illinois Physics Grad Students Earn 2021 NSF Grad Research Fellowships

Illinois Physics graduate students Mari Cieszynski, Kevin Kleiner, Randy Owen, and Kristen Schumacher have been awarded 2021 NSF Graduate Research Fellowships.  Only roughtly 2000 fellowships were awarded from over 12,000 applications. 

Mari is a 1st-year graduate student working with Brian DeMarco, Kevin is a second-year graduate student working with Lucas Wagner, Randy is a 1st-year graduate student working with Angela Kou, and Kristen is a second-year graduate student working with Nico Yunes. Second-year graduate student Matt Thibodeau received a 2021 NSF Honorable Mention recognition.

Mari, Kevin, Randy, and Kristen join the following current Illinois Physics grad students who are or were NSF graduate fellowship recipients: Brandon Buncher, Michael Highman, Daniel Inafuku, Colin Lualdi, Julian May-Mann, Debora Mroczek, Rachel Nguyen, Kathleen Oolman, Samantha Rubeck, Saavanth Velury, Laura Wadleigh, and Garrett Williams.
