Research Opportunities for Grad Students in Prof. Chris Anderson's Laboratory

Prof. Chris Anderson (MatSE, affiliate appointment in Physics and ECE) has an opening for a PhD graduate research assistant interested in experimental quantum science and engineering. The Anderson lab is a new group at Illinois and works towards building the world’s first quantum internet by harnessing the properties of single photons and electrons. This new internet has the potential to scale-up quantum computers, provide unhackable communications, and to build distributed quantum sensors. Advances in this field will be made by exploring new quantum photonic materials, optimizing their performance through understanding fundamental physics, and harnessing extreme nonlinearities near quantum phase transitions. Research opportunities span device physics, quantum control, quantum optics, nanofabrication, nanophotonics, cavity-QED, nonlinear optics, simulation, and beyond.
The Anderson lab is seeking for thoughtful, motivated, and diverse team members to join and help build a vibrant research effort and inclusive group culture. No previous quantum experience is required. For more information, please e-mail Chris at cpand@illinois.edu. You can find more information in Chris’ recent cover article of Physics Today, his recent IQUIST seminar and publications on his google scholar profile.
