Postdoctoral Openings in Oxide Nanoelectronics and Molecular-Scale THz Spectroscopy
6/19/2013
Prof. Jeremy Levy at the University of Pittsburgh has two postdoctoral openings:
-- Postdoctoral position in oxide nanoelectronics
We are looking for an outstanding candidate to work in the area of oxide nanoelectronics. One explicit goal is to determine whether it will be possible to create nanostructures at the LaAlO3/SrTIO3 interface with properties that are suitable for the formation of Majorana zero modes. If these modes can be detected, our further aim is to demonstrate non-abelian braiding statistics and evaluate the potential for topological quantum computation. The successful candidate will have experience in a number of areas, including quantum transport at low temperatures, scanning probe microscopy, nanolithography and cleanroom experience. We are equipped with a newly renovated state-of-the-art facility at the University of Pittsburgh. For more information about the laboratory and research please visit http://levylab.org. The University of Pittsburgh is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer and particularly welcomes applications from women and members of minority groups.
-- Postdoctoral position in Molecular-Scale THz spectroscopy
We are looking for an outstanding candidate to work in the area of molecular-scale THz spectroscopy. The work will build on a recent demonstration of broadband generation and detection of THz emission at 10 nm scales (http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/nl401219v). This technique will be applied to spectroscopy of nanoscale objects including molecules, quantum dots, wires, and the LaAlO3/SrTIO3 interface that is used to generate and detect THz emission. The successful candidate will have experience with ultrafast optics, cryogenics and scanning probe microscopy. We are equipped with a newly renovated state-of-the-art facility at the University of Pittsburgh. For more information about the laboratory and research please visit http://levylab.org.
