The Center for Quantum Devices is a basic research center comprising experimental physics, nanoelectronics, materials research, and condensed matter theory.

Research areas include:

Quantum Spintronics & Spin Qubits
The quantum nature of individual spins brings new functionality to information processing and sensing, and provides a platform for fundamental studies of interacting quantum systems. Current activities include extending spin qubits toward multi-qubit systems, exploring a variety of qubit coupling schemes, and developing controlled electron entanglement.

Topological Quantum Systems
Current activities include experimental studies of topological quasiparticles in hybrid superconductor-semiconductor structures and fractional quantum Hall systems.

Nanowires & Nanotubes
Current activities include fabrication of nanoscale devices for quantum transport studies and bio-sensor applications. Materials are grown by III-V MBE or CVD and characterized using electron microscopy and other probes.

Condensed Matter Theory
Current activities include electronic transport and other non-equilibrium phenomena in nanoscale systems, as well as implementations of quantum information systems. Projects in topological superconductors, spin qubits, and transport in correlated and low-dimensional systems are available.
