NDSEG Fellowships for Students in STEM

The NDSEG Fellowship  (National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship) supports US citizens and nationals pursuing doctoral degrees in STEM.  These highly prestigious fellowships offer three years of support, with annual stipends starting at $30,500.  To qualify, students must have completed less than two full-time years of graduate studies in the discipline in which they are applying.  Eligible fields include Aeronautical/ Astronautical Engineering, Biosciences, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Cognitive/Neural/Behavioral Sciences, Computer/Computational Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Geosciences, Materials Science & Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics.  Fellowships do not require a military or other service obligation.

Note for students applying for the NSF-GRF:  NSF and NDSEG request similar information, but the NDSEG application is much shorter.  Therefore, if you are applying to NSF, you can prepare an NDSEG application with little trouble. All STEM students applying for NSF-GRF should look into the NDSEG.

Applications are due December 20, and application information can be found here: http://ndseg.asee.org/about_ndseg.  If you have questions, contact Ken Vickery, Director of External Fellowships, at vickeryk@illinois.edu.
