Research Opening in Prof. Andre Schleife's Computational Materials Science Group
11/13/2013
Prof. Andre Schleife is looking for a physics graduate student for his Computational Materials Science group in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. His research is in the fields of first-principles simulations, theoretical spectroscopy techniques, and non-adiabatic dynamics. In their group they aim at understanding ground-state properties (e.g., lattice properties, total energies), excited electronic states (e.g., light absorption and emission), and their dynamics (e.g., non-adiabatic electron-ion effects, excited-state dynamics) in materials for photovoltaics, semiconductor technology/optoelectronics, and energy applications.
Andre's group uses accurate and modern computational methods such as density functional theory, time-dependent density-functional theory, and many-body perturbation theory. As a Blue Waters professor, he will heavily incorporate the high-performance Blue Waters super computer at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) into this research. Andre can be contacted directly via email schleife@illinois.edu to discuss specific possible projects and interests. More information can be found on his website:
