Grad College Travel Grants Available for Master's and Dissertation Projects

The Graduate College offers Travel Grants to students conducting master’s or PhD research.

Master’s grants provide up to $500 for an off-campus, short-term project required of a master’s degree program. Typical projects include thesis research, travel for performance or exhibition, or final projects. Projects not eligible for support include internships, practicums, independent study, conference travel, and traveling for a performance or exhibition that is not required for degree completion.

Dissertation grants provide up to $5,000 for travel costs necessary for doctoral dissertation research, whether for exploring a potential dissertation topic (i.e., before extensive research has been done) or for conducting dissertation research.

Students must be nominated by their departments, and departments may submit only three nominations per award. Nominations are due in the Graduate College by September 9, 2014. Interested students should talk with their department’s Director of Graduate Studies as soon as possible. For complete details, see the master’s listing or the dissertation listing in the Fellowship Opportunities database.
