Interdisciplinary work has become more and more common in research. Requiring knowledge from various fields, it provides an excellent platform to broaden one's horizons. As the lines between fields blur, working across disciplines is no longer optional. Join GradSWE for lunch to discuss the advantages and challenges of interdisciplinary research with two prominent U of I professors. Scott White (Aerospace Engineering) works on self-healing and self-regulating materials, and his consulting experience places him at the interface of academia and industry. Andrew Ferguson (Materials Science and Engineering) explored different fields as he moved from chemical engineering to computational biology. Contact Danielle Mai (djmai2@illinois.edu) if you have questions.
