Job Description: Inprentus, Inc., is seeking a part time, predoctoral intern in the area of high-precision optics. Candidates should be near completion of a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, and have a background and interest in optics R&D. The individual will participate in the development of a precision testing apparatus for ultrahigh-resolving-power diffraction gratings, and should be capable of working as part of a diverse and highly motivated technical team. Inprentus is an early stage, tech startup based in the EnterpriseWorks incubator in the University of Illinois Research Park, and aspires to become the world leader in large-scale, contact-mode mechanical lithography. The current focus is on manufacturing of x-ray diffraction gratings, which are used for spectral analysis of ultraviolet and x-ray radiation for EUV lithography, synchrotron radiation research, inertial confinement fusion, x-ray telescopes, etc. Interested candidates should send inquiries to info@inprentus.com .

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Experience and interest in optics apparatus and testing

• Experience working in a laboratory R&D environment

• Ability to solve problems and work independently

• Ability to communicate well with team members and partners at other institutions
