Prof. David Cahill is Looking for a Student to Study Materials at High Pressures
4/10/2015
Prof. David Cahill of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering is looking for a Ph.D. student to work on the physics of materials at high pressures. This project is supported by the Carnegie DOE Alliance center and operates at the intersections between condensed matter physics, materials science, and geoscience. Some recent publications from this project are Gregory T. Hohensee, R. B. Wilson, and David G. Cahill, "Thermal conductance of metal-diamond interfaces at high pressure," Nature Communications 6, 6578 (2015); and Wen-Pin Hsieh, Austin S. Lyons, Eric Pop, Pawel Keblinski, and David G. Cahill, "Pressure tuning of the thermal conductance of weak interfaces," Phys. Rev. B 84, 184107 (2011). If you are interested, please contact Prof. Cahill at d-cahill@illinois.edu.
