Ph.D. Opportunity in with a focus on MICROELECTRONICS AND PHOTONICS
The ICORLAB research group led by Prof. Can Bayram in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) is currently looking for PhD students. We are located in the Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory (MNTL), also working in the Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology, Materials Research Laboratory, and Beckmann Institute. Our research is focused on next generation photonic and electronic devices including:
1. Solid State Lighting
2. Next Generation Electronics
3. Flexible Devices for Therapeutic Applications
4. Hetero-integrated Devices for Advanced Applications
Our work includes design/simulation, microfabrication, and characterization of semiconductor devices. On-campus collaborations include Materials Science, Physics, Chemical and Mechanical Engineering, and off-campus they range from academia to industry. Interested students should take a look at ICORLAB group webpage at http://icorlab.ece.illinois.edu/ and contact Prof. Bayram directly via email “cbayram@illinois.edu” (and should attach their CV and unofficial UG/GRAD transcripts). Students with M.S. and with experience in microfabrication of photonic and electronic devices are encouraged to apply. Experience with GaN-based materials and devices is preferred but not required. Knowledge in solid state physics and semiconductor technology, experience in FEM simulation and hands-on micro-fabrication are plus.
