Grad Student Travel Awards to Attend 2016 Lindau-Nobel Meeting in Germany

The Graduate College is accepting nominations for travel awards that send graduate students to the 2016 Lindau-Nobel Meeting. The Lindau-Nobel Meeting, held annually in Lindau, Germany, brings Nobel Laureates together with top students from around the world for a week of lectures and small-group discussions. Each year’s meeting has a theme, and the 2016 theme is Physics. The meeting will take place June 26-July 1, 2016.

To be eligible, students must be 1) a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, 2) under 35 years of age at the time of the conference, 3) enrolled in a graduate program in physics or related discipline, and 4) have completed by June 2016 at least two academic years of graduate studies but not be planning a dissertation/thesis defense before December 31, 2016.

The University of Illinois may nominate two students for the award, and the Graduate College will coordinate the campus competition. Students must be nominated by their departments, and each department may submit up to two nominations. If you're eligible and interested in applying, completed nominations must be sent to the Physics Grad Office by no later than Oct. 1 so we have time to select 2 finalists (if there are more than 2 nominations) and submit the selected nomination packages to the Graduate College by 4:30 p.m. on October 5, 2015.  See complete eligibility and nomination details.
