Data Science Across Disciplines Seminar: Educational Technology

Tuesday, October 20, 4 p.m., Main Library, room 106

Join the Data Science Across Disciplines Focal Point for a seminar with Dr. H. Chad Lane from the College of Education and Illinois Informatics Institute. Professor Lane's research involves applications of techniques from Artificial Intelligence to educational problems, with a particular emphasis on entertainment technologies (e.g., video games, animation, narrative). He will discuss the different kinds of data that can be collected in different learning settings, and describe a variety of approaches being used that automatically interpret data to improve pedagogical decision making and learning outcomes. A reception will follow his talk to support networking between researchers across disciplines who are interested in using data to solve interesting problems.
