Description: At Lam Research, we’re all Atom Engineers. Engineers and specialists, leaders, new college grads and interns – we all help customers manipulate the tiny building blocks of atoms…and move the world. Our equipment allows chipmakers to build device features more than 1,000 times smaller than a grain of sand. This tiny scale has a huge impact: Virtually every leading-edge chip inside the electronics you use every day (TVs, smartphones, laptops, cars) was made using our innovations. Our footprint includes 16 countries and nearly 50 locations worldwide. This global presence serves customers who are designing increasingly smaller and more powerful chips. Or portfolio or market-leading products for thin film deposition, plasma etch, photoresist strip, and wafer cleaning is one of the vital links between their vision and reality.

Speaker Bio: Jerome Hubacek is the Managing Director of the Supplier Materials and Technology (SMT) Group at Lam Research in Fremont, CA, where he leads a global team of approximately 150 technical professionals that supports the full line of Lam Research semiconductor process equipment products. Jerome was born in Chicago and raised in Palos Heights, IL and earned his BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from UIUC as a member of Prof. Joseph Lyding’s group. His university research experience ranged from crystal growth and low-temperature electrical transport measurements of transition-metal trichalcogenides to atomic-level surface characterization of semiconductor materials with an UHV-based scanning tunneling microscope (STM) based on Professor Lyding’s novel design. After working in engineering positions at companies in the touch screen and display industries, Dr. Hubacek joined Lam Research in 1996 and has held several engineering, management, and leadership positions in the Etch Product Group, Clean Product Group, and currently leads a team responsible for developing supplier technology and managing supplier quality to enable Lam Research to deliver leading edge products to semiconductor manufacturers.
