NEW English Language Course for International Scholars!

The Intensive English Institute at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is happy to announce the Summer 2016 English for International Academic Communication for those with a high-intermediate to advanced English language proficiency level.

What Will Students Do In This Course?:

-- Review and practice appropriate language and strategies to facilitate interactions in… Casual departmental conversations; Academic discussions; Professional meetings and workshops

-- Develop professional presentation skills

-- Expand spoken academic vocabulary

-- Improve English pronunciation through individualized error analysis and practice

Course length: 8 weeks

On Campus Hybrid:

Course Dates: Mondays June 13-August 1, 2016

Course Time: 10:00am - 12:00pm

Cost: $375

Course format: Hybrid. Students meet face-to-face in class 2 hours/week and individually on an appointment basis. Course communication and assessment will be predominantly online.

Expected course load: 6-8 hours/week (class time included)

Who Can Enroll?: Those on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus or in the community with an F1 visa, F2 visa, J1 visa (with permission from ISSS), J2 visas, and US citizens/residents engaged in scholarly work. This course is especially useful for current international Visiting Scholars and Postdocs!

Course format: Course content, communication, and assessment will be online. Expected course load: 5-6 hours/week (class time included)
