Next fall will begin the fourth year of Illinois GPS (Guidance for Physics Students), a mentoring group intended to bridge the undergraduate and graduate physics communities here at UIUC. GPS matches undergraduates and graduates for one-on-one peer mentoring, as well as provide open (optional) group-wide community activities, either social or academic or in between.

This past semester, GPS had a number of undergraduates on the wait list, and GPS would love to get some new graduate students.

No previous mentorship experience is necessary, and the time commitment is fairly modest and flexible. Our undergrads are looking for advice on what it's like to be a graduate student, major research areas, graduate school application process, etc... as well as a community that shares their interest in the physical world. You can make a big difference to them!

GPS would love to have you!

If you are not sure and you have any questions, please feel free to email GPS at illinoisgps2@gmail.com. You can also visit the public FB page to get a feel for the group: https://www.facebook.com/IllinoisGPS

The application is due August 1st. (If you're already a member of GPS, you do not need to apply again.)
