2018 Department of Physics NSF Fellowship Workshop on Sept. 19, 2018
9/3/2018 6:16:26 AM
Are you planning to apply, or thinking about applying, for a 2019 NSF Graduate Fellowship by the Oct. 26, 2018 deadline for Physics and Astronomy? We will hold a "Graduate Fellowship Workshop" from 6 - 8 p.m. on Sept. 19, 2018 in Rm. 204 Loomis (Interaction Room). Pizza and drinks will be provided!
The Fellowship Workshop will include an open discussion with a panel of faculty, staff, and students who have experience with NSF and other Graduate Fellowship applications. This year's panel will include current Illinois Physics students Saavanth Velury (3rd-year grad student) and Michael Highman (2nd-year grad student), as well as proposal-writing guru Celia Elliott. These panelists will provide insights into how to develop a successful graduate fellowship application, and they will be available to answer your questions about the application process.
The workshop will also include short presentations by Celia Elliott and myself on the key components of the NSF Fellowship application and tips for writing an effective fellowship proposal. There have been a few important changes to the eligibility and other requirements associated with the 2019 NSF Grad Fellowship competition, so you should try to attend if you're interested in applying.
If you're interested in attending this Workshop, contact slcooper@illinois.edu so we'll know how much pizza to order!
