Prof. Prashant Jain leads a research group in experimental and theoretical nano-optics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His group is housed in the Department of Chemistry with affiliations in the Department of Physics and the Beckman Institute and the group perform a lot of its work at the Materials Research Laboratory. The group uses nanoscale spectroscopy, microscopy, and theory to uncover hidden dynamics of phase transitions in the solid state complex materials and the mechanism of light to electrical and chemical energy conversion. They also use strong light-matter interactions, such as plasmon resonances, to induce novel opto-electronic phenomena in solid-state materials. Prof. Jain currently has 1 research position available.
