Modified Policies for Summer 2020 Prelim and Thesis Exams

The Graduate College has instituted important new policies for students planning a Summer 2020 Prelim or Thesis Defense:

On-line Summer 2020 Prelims and Defenses:  First, the Graduate College is extending through the summer term (i.e., until at least August 24, 2020) the current policy that all prelims and thesis defenses can be conducted completely remotely. The grad office will send recommended procedures for conducting remote prelims and thesis defenses to students with scheduled Spring and Summer 2020 prelims and defenses.

Suspension of Summer 2020 Registration Requirements: Students planning to take their prelims or thesis defenses in Summer 2020 will not be required to register for the Summer 2020 term provided they were registered in Spring 2020. Consequently, students can take a prelim or defense exam through August 23, 2020 without registering in Summer 2020 if they were registered for the Spring 2020 semester.
