Many of those who advise physics students have heard statistics that the majority of physics graduates will go on to work in private sector environments. However, physics educators may not have the experience to feel comfortable mentoring students who are interested in pursuing this career path.
APS is launching a new webinar series, “Success in Industry Careers,” which will focus on specific skills and knowledge that physics students need to thrive in private sector environments. Topics will include:
- Effective Communication - Upward, Downwards, and Sideways
- Applying Physics Skills to Practical Problems
- Project Management for Physicists in Private Sector Careers
- Understanding IP: From Patents to Publications to Trade Secrets
- Letting the Perfect Be the Enemy of the Good: A Crash Course in Return on Investment/Cost-Benefit Analysis
The APS Success in Industry Careers Webinar Series will be a great resource for your students - and also for educators who want to learn more about how to best prepare students for careers in private sector environments. To sign up for the series, join our APS Webinars mailing list.
