Prof. Mikael Backlund is Looking for Graduate Students

Mikael Backlund is an Assistant Professor of Physical Chemistry and a member of IQUIST. His research interests are centered on applied quantum sensing and advanced microscopy methods. One thrust of the lab involves using quantum defects in diamond to sense molecular scale phenomena in targets relevant to biophysics and soft condensed matter. Another thrust casts single-molecule fluorescence microscopy as a quantum estimation task in order to establish and saturate metrological limits inherent to these important techniques.
