I’m writing to you on behalf of the Master of Science in Law (MSL) Program at the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law to call your attention to this unique master’s program designed specifically for STEM professionals.
The Master of Science in Law is an interdisciplinary degree that provides specialized training in areas of special interest to STEM professionals: business law and entrepreneurship, intellectual property and patent design, and regulatory analysis and strategy. The program also focuses on skills development – oral and written communication, quantitative skills, negotiations, etc. Our current health crisis has confirmed the importance of this cross-disciplinary study; we have been reminded of how valuable it is for decision-makers with technical expertise to also understand the legal, regulatory, and business implications of their work, and to be able to communicate effectively about these matters. You can learn more about the types of students who benefit from MSL study by exploring profiles of our current students and alumni.
University of Illinois produces strong STEM graduates, and we think the MSL Program could be a great graduate school option for your students.
Our traditional spring recruiting plans – university visits, national conferences, and on-campus sessions – are obviously not possible right now, and we are reaching out to see if you have ideas or preferences for how to reach your students while we are restricted from in-person events. Some possible options include:
(1) We can host a virtual campus information session especially for your students – a 30-60 minute presentation, with time for questions.
(2) We can host a virtual information session for relevant academic advisors – a 30-60 minute presentation tailored to your advising team, with time for questions.
(3) We can include your students in one of our monthly information sessions – a 60-75 minute presentation with the MSL faculty director and current students, designed to provide an overview and discuss the benefits of the program. We would, of course, want your advice on the best way to reach your students to invite them to one of the monthly sessions. FYI, the next two sessions are: February 10, 2021 from 5:30 – 6:30 PM CT March 10, 2021 from 5:30 – 6:30 PM CT
(4) Digital material distribution – we are glad to provide brochures or flyers for distribution to your faculty, advising, and student audiences.
Please let me know if you would like to chat about any of the above or about other ideas for engaging with your students. Also, if you have other colleagues who you think would be interested, please point me in their direction. I look forward to connecting!
Warmly, Ashlee Hardgrave Admissions Manager Master of Science in Law Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law
