The Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics Graduate Fellowship Program offers a unique opportunity for a select group of physics doctoral students to spend a minimum period of 5 months (and up to 6 months) at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics (KITP), participate in KITP research programs, and broaden their pursuit of theoretical physics in areas of current research.
Students may apply, or be nominated by an advisor. In either case, the application must include a CV, a letter of recommendation, and a 500-word essay that answers the question: “How will working at KITP during the 5 months of this Graduate Fellow appointment advance my development as a physicist?”
Nominations and applications for the Spring 2022 KITP Graduate Fellowship are due by October 1, 2021.
KITP provides Graduate Fellows an office, reimbursement for lodging and travel, and the opportunity to participate in the following programs, which run from January 2022 through June 2022:
- Towards Classically Intractable Quantum Simulations of Physics and Chemistry
- Confinement, Flux Tubes, and Large N
- Neutrinos as a Portal to New Physics and Astrophysics
- Bridging the Gap: Accretion and Orbital Evolution in Stellar and Black Hole Binaries
- High-Precision Gravitational Waves
- Living Near Unitarity
