You have exactly two weeks to complete and submit your application for the APS Congressional Science Fellowship, an extraordinary opportunity to work on Capitol Hill alongside representatives of Congress! Make sure to review the qualifications on the website before you submit.
Remember, you will receive a stipend, as well as an allowance for relocation, professional travel, and health insurance premiums. The application deadline is December 1, 2021.
It is the aim of APS in sponsoring these fellowships to provide a public service by making available individuals with scientific knowledge and skills to Members of Congress, few of whom have a technical background.
In turn, the program enables scientists to broaden their experience through direct involvement with legislative and policymaking processes and make a difference in the physics community. Fellows serve one year on the staff of a senator, representative, or congressional committee beginning September 2022. Many fellows make connections that allow them to continue careers in science policy or public service.
