Research Assistant Professor Antonios Tsokaros has two open positions for graduate students for a PhD in relativistic astrophysics. His group develops theoretical/computational methods for the solution of complicated relativistic systems that cannot be addressed in an analytical way. The behavior of these systems is ultimately studied through their full 4-D evolution. This project involves the further development of existing software to compute novel initial data as well as their subsequent evolution.

Students with interest in general relativity, astrophysics, and computation methods should contact Dr. Tsokaros (tsokaros@illinois.edu) with a complete CV, accompanied by a short paragraph highlighting relevant experience and coursework. Women and students from minority backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Students with previous experience in these areas will be strongly preferred, but that is not necessary to apply.
