The Department of Physics at Berkeley is excited to host the Berkeley Futures in Physics workshop, featuring the research of up and coming young scientists. The workshop will address issues relevant to all women looking to successfully transition to their first faculty position. We invite top early career scientists in Physics and Astronomy who are interested in careers in academia to apply for participation in an expenses-paid, two-day workshop (March 24-25, 2025). Early Career Scientists include postdocs and/or last year PhD students applying/planning to apply in the next two years for faculty positions.
Participants will have an opportunity to present their research, as well as attend panel discussions with faculty focused on issues related to navigating the early stages of an academic career. The goal of this "Berkeley Futures in Physics" workshop is to help early career scientists transition to faculty with a focus on understanding issues relevant to women.
Further information regarding eligibility and the application process can be found on the event website (https://physics.berkeley.edu/2025-berkeley-futures-in-physics-workshop). Applications are due by November 29nd, 2024.
Please distribute this announcement among your faculty colleagues and encourage the very top early career scientists in your department to apply. The workshop is being coordinated by a Committee of Berkeley faculty, with support of private donors and ICAM.
